“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matthew 7:24–27
Check out last Sunday’s sermon here.
Jesus is exceptionally kind and gracious to us. He proclaims news explaining life and where we are going. We live in a moment and cannot see over the summit of the future. We do not have the prophetic gift.
However, in Christ, we are all prophets. We prophesy because Jesus is Prophet, Priest, and King. He sees ahead. He knows the end. He tells us of the end. We believe and proclaim.
“A storm is coming!” Jesus cries. His follower the Apostle Paul later said,
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. -2 Corinthians 5:10
The message is public. Everyone is a hearer. Everyone must hear His words. Everyone must hear because everyone is a house builder, whether on the rock of Christ or the sand of self determination.
When The Storm Comes
A storm of judgment is coming, a gail exposing the secrets of men (Romans 2:16). Who will stand?
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them... -Matthew 7:24a
Hold fast to the rock of Christ. Reject yourself, your wisdom, anything that would steal from Christ. Any other ground than Christ is sinking sand.
A Storm is coming, but there is a Savior. What a gracious prophecy from the Savior!
